Gerber only sells this 06 Automatic tanto knife exclusively to those in combat or public safety professions, so that should tell you something about its dependability even before you look at the specs.
To take it a step further, Gerber recently polled its customers and asked for product modification ideas that would make things easier on the job. Two common feedback responses were: a larger release button that could be used by someone wearing gloves, and a lanyard compatible with 550 paracord. And voila! The 06 Automatic has both features.
The materials are grade-A quality, too. The blade comes from premium S30V stainless steel and the handle is made of lightweight anodized 6061 aluminum, both of which won’t be corroding or weakening any time soon.
The 06 Automatic also features a stainless steel strike point on the pommel, a partially serrated edge, a fingered grip with traction, and a slide safety that will work in both open and closed positions.
It’s not the cheapest automatic tanto blade out there, but for the experience of owning an exclusive military blade in your collection, it might just be worth it.
