The SOG Twitch series is a good product line to consider if you’re a fan of precision and technology.
The knives in the series feature a few bells and whistles, so if you like things plain and simple, it might be best to steer clear of these for now. However, if you like your pocketknives with assisted-opening features, locking mechanisms, and other gadgets, then you’ll like this Twitch II knife.
It features a pass-through lock bar and a press-release kick button, able to open the knife in a flash. SOG is close to patenting this system, calling it SAT (SOG Assisted Technology). After the knife flips open, the SAT system immediately locks the blade firmly in place.
The rest of the knife seems sturdy enough. It’s got a handle made from hard-anodized aluminum, and an AUS8 stainless steel blade. SOG likes to use AUS8 on their blades since it presents a good compromise between hardness, sharpness, and toughness. AUS8 may require just a bit more attention as far as sharpening goes, so be forewarned.
The other way in which this knife presents a good compromise is in the price. And by that, I mean that it’s very reasonable. So if you like the look, the materials, and the cost, this one is certainly worth a second look.
